For this week’s first tip, you’ll have to know if your student is competitive or not.  I don’t think it’ll work if they are not.  The second tip includes an excellent set of games and activities for teaching and reviewing sounds.  Many of our low readers are missing basic phonics knowledge!  Let’s help them out.

  1. Some students will love to be timed doing their Winning Words (or sight word lists). Have them try to beat their record!
  2. Use these 7 activities/games to practice some letter-sounds: http://www.fcrr.org/curriculum/PDF/G2-3/2-3Phonics_1.pdf
