Here are some tips that may help improve your tutoring session:

• For a student with attention problems, keep the desk clear of clutter. Only place one thing on the desk at a time.
• Have you started a Winning Words list?  If not, grab a piece of paper (or deck of index cards) and begin writing down the words that were difficult for them while they were reading.  Read them each week (some folks like to have the student read and write the words each week).  Reward with stickers when they “master” the word.
