We really like to offer our students some control and some choice during their session.  Let’s not abandon structure and goals, however.

The second tip is a strategy for tackling a word that your student doesn’t know.  Remember to not give them a word every time they encounter one they don’t now.

  • We recommend writing out an agenda for each session. However, some students will do better if you allow them to choose between two activities as you move through your agenda.
  • If they can’t sound out a word, ask them to guess what the word MIGHT be based on context, beginning letter sound and the picture.
