After just a week or two, some tutors may already be noticing that their student has issues with attention.  Also, almost all the students we tutor are choppy readers that need help with fluency.  Read this week’s tips to find out a couple strategies that can help!

  • For a student with attention problems, try doing 5-10 different and short activities instead of just reading a book and answering questions each session.
  • When you read to your student you are helping their fluency by modeling appropriate rate, expression, and accuracy. Find books or articles that are interesting to them (even if they’re too hard for them to read independently).
