  • Anna KnottsDirector-Franklinton

Anna Knotts graduated from Messiah College in 2004 and received her M.S. in Exercise Physiology from the University of South Carolina in 2006.  An interest in serving in an urban context led to a move from South Carolina to Columbus, OH where friends were living in the low-income neighborhood of Franklinton.

Upon her arrival in Franklinton, she began volunteering as a tutor at nearby Avondale Elementary .  An opportunity arose to serve as a Volunteer Coordinator (in 2008) and then Director (in 2009) as the program expanded to become the Franklinton Tutoring Program.  In 2010, she completed the Orton-Gillingham Tutor Training course at Marburn Academy and began privately tutoring students with dyslexia for 2.5 years.  She has been able to use this training and experience to help develop tutor training materials for Columbus Tutoring Initiative volunteers.  She now continues to help run the Franklinton programs as well as assisting in the operations of the Columbus Tutoring Initiative.

Steve and Anna Knotts both work with youth at Youth for Christ’s City Life Center and help lead a Xenos home church on the west side.  They have a blast hanging with their sons, Caleb and Luke.
